The kids worked with a partner to find the main idea, theme, and retell a fable.
I just introduced the IXL computer math program to the kids. They love earning prizes and it's a great way to practice our standards! They can even work on this at home! Look for the informational letter that came home today. Well, we are a few weeks in already. Holy cow, that was quick! Our mornings are jammed packed with math, reading, and writer's workshops! The kids have been so great at picking up the procedures and diving in. Did you hear about our reading bags? I was able to get Strak's here in Lowell to donate some black bags to our class. They are working out great during Reader's Workshop. The kids can load up their books and notebooks, find a comfy spot in the room and read, read, read! Thank you, Strak's!! We are just starting out our Word Study units. The kids will have a group of words at their spelling level to sort and compare all week. Rocket Math has taken off too! This is the program we will use to practice fluency with math facts. These folders may be coming home for some practice soon. The kids are very excited to meet their goals and move up levels. Blast Off!! We are loving our laptops! So far, we have been practicing logging on, going to Big Universe.com to read some books, and exploring the website page on my blog. I'm excited to integrate parts of our day with the computers. |
